News From the Forest

News from the Forest Class Teachers: 
  • We loved our time talking with you about your child during conferences. We enjoy spending each day with your children!
  • Mark your calendars - the Forest Class presents our Mongolian Museum on Tuesday, March 20th from 7:00 to 8:00pm. Our classroom will be transformed into a museum with exhibits created by our Forest Class students presenting their research and artifacts about Mongolia. We hope you can make it!
  • This Friday we begin a round of Discover Groups focused around our Afghan sister school. Over the next two Fridays, students will be participating in small groups where they will learn about crafts and activities from Afghan. On the third Friday we will have an Afghan Bazaar to celebrate all of the things we have learned. 
This weeks Ranger is Zoe. 
This week's Ranger is Zoe. She is eight-years-old. She was born in Durham. Her family includes her mom, her dad, and her two brothers. For pets she has one cat and one dog. The thing she most likes to do when she is at home is read. If you were stranded on an island alone, Zoe would want to have food with her. Her favorite food is rice. Her least favorite food is brussel sprouts. Her hobbies are collecting crystals and Silly Bands. When she goes on vacation she most likes to go to Topsail Beach. Zoe's dream vacation would be to go to Topsail Beach and stay in a really tall house that she likes. When she grows up, she wants to be an artist.

News From the Forest

This week's Ranger is Yana. She is ten-years-old. She was born in Chapel Hill. Her family includes her dad, her mom, her two dogs and her brother. (She says her brother counts as one of the pets!) The thing she most likes to do when she is at home is draw. If you were stranded on an island alone, Yana would want a boat. Her favorite food is pancakes. Her least favorite food is anything green and slimy. Her hobbies are drawing and doing animation on the computer. When she goes on vacation she most likely goes to the beach. Yana's dream vacation would be to go to the Bahamas. When she grows up, she wants to be a professional animator.


News From the Forest Teachers:


  • The students are working hard on their Mongolian research projects, preparing for the opening of our museum. 
  • It's conference time!  Remember that we have no school on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week (2/22, 23, and 24) for preparing for and conducting conferences.  This is such an important time -- we look forward to seeing you!
  • Check out our new cushions we purchased for the Forest Class. These cushions engage the core and keep the body energy flowing during seat work. We are also using the cushions to provide extra height and support posture during our keyboarding instruction. The kids love them!

Can you feel the love?

Happy Valentine's Day from the Forest Class! The kids had a great time celebrating Valentine's Day this morning by passing out special greeting cards to each other and eating yummy cupcakes.

Ranger of the Week! 

This week's Ranger is Leo.  He is 8 years old. He was born in Utah. His family includes his mom, his dad and himself.  For pets he has a dog and three cats.  The things he likes to do best when he is at home, is play with his pets.  If he was stranded on an island alone,  he would want to have his cheetah stuffie with him.  His favorite food is milkshakes.  The food he dislikes the most is linguine.  His hobbies are playing knock-out and soccer.  When he goes on vacation he most likes to go the Galapagos.  His dream vacation would be to go to the moon.  He is really good at making clay sculptures.  When he grows up, he most wants to be an artist.

The beginning of our ger

As part of our study of Mongolia we are going to build a ger. We showed the class the top part of the ger this morning. Once all of the pieces have been milled the Forest class will assemble the pieces and decorate the ger.

News From the Forest

This week's Ranger is Lena. Lena is 8 years old. She was born in North Carolina. Her family includes two sisters, her mom and her dad. For pets she has three dogs, one cat, three horses, two fish, a crayfish, a lizard, and three gerbils. The things she likes to do best when she is at home is watch movies and have my dog jump over things like a broom. If she were stranded on an island and could have only one thing with her it would be a horse. Her favorite food is ice cream sundaes. Her least favorite food is strawberry ice cream. Her hobbies are going shopping, watching movies, and riding horses. When she goes on vacation she most likes to go to her beach house. Her dream vacation would be to go to Iceland. She is really good at running and riding horses. When she grows up, right now, she wants to be an orthodontist. 

News From the Teachers:
-Don't forget tomorrow we have noon dismissal for a staff development afternoon.
-Forest kids are busy researching about Mongolia and preparing to create their own exhibit for our classroom museum. We can't wait to show you more from our museum. 
-We look forward to meeting with parents on February 24th and 25th for Parent-Teacher conferences. We have wonderful things to share with you about your child. 
-This month's query for Meeting for Worship is "How can I be helpful when friends are making bad choices?"
